Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 cup butter melted
  • 1/3 cup black cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1/2 cup yogurt full fat
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 Tbsp black cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3-4 Tbsp 10% cream as needed

Instructions

For the Cake:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Grease a 10-12 cup bundt pan and dust lightly with cocoa powder.
  • In a small pot, melt the butter. Add the water and salt and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking soda.
  • Whisk in the butter mixture, until smooth.
  • Whisk in the eggs, one at a time.
  • Whisk in the yogurt and vanilla extract.
  • Scrape the batter evenly into the bundt pan.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for 20 minutes on a wire rack.
  • Invert onto a rack and let cool completely.

For the Glaze:

  • Whisk the powdered sugar, cooca, vanilla, and 3 Tbsp of cream together. You may need to add a bit more to get the right consistency. The glaze should be thick but be able to slowly flow down the side of the cake.
  • Once the cake is cool, spoon the glaze over the cake and let it drip slowly down the sides.
  • Serve with a side of whipped cream!
