The City Break Hat is designed by Yuliya Tkacheva for Ms Weaver’s Store on Ravelry.

To make the City Break Hat, I used two skeins of Drops Baby Alpaca Silk in grey blue and a 3.0 mm hook. The hat pattern offers three sizes, and I made the large size which is nice and stretchy. This is a great hat for kids, men, or women, and would be lovely in many different colours. I liked using Baby Alpaca Silk because both the alpaca and silk fibres offer beautiful drape to the hat.

The City Break Hat pattern uses FPdc and BPdc stitches, which create ribbing and provides stretch. The crown of the hat is simple but stunning: the stitches form beautiful seams that look great.

The band of basketweave closer to the brim adds a really nice detail. The hat is relatively understated and chic, but that basketweave adds just a bit of visual interest. I really like basketweave stitches, which you may be able to tell from my previous basketweave projects like the Sakura Mobius Cowl and the Celtic Weave Infinity Scarf.

Once finished, the hat is warm and stretchy, and the pattern is available in multiple sizes. If you don’t want to make it yourself, this finished hat is available for sale on our Etsy store!
