Encompassing so much shoreline, New England is teeming with lighthouses. Ever since reading about Anne (from Anne of Green Gables) meeting a man who lived in a lighthouse in Anne’s House of Dreams, I have dreamed of living in a lighthouse too. Something about the odd-shaped building, the solitude, and proximity to the ocean really appeals to me.  The above photo is a lighthouse on our way out of Provincetown on our whale watching expedition!

The Gay Head Lighthouse, guiding sailors since 1856. It is dangerously close to the eroding cliffs, so the community wants to move the whole structure inland so it doesn’t topple into the ocean. At 400 tons, this is no easy task! I hope the community can raise the funds to save it. Donate at Save the Gay Head Lighthouse.
