On a sunny Friday afternoon, Ryan and I walked down to Aunties and Uncles for breakfast. Some friends and I have thought about coming here for years, but it’s popular and thus crazy busy on the weekends.

Aunties and Uncles, Kiku CornerThe decor is kind of vintage kitsch, with furniture and some decor that would not look out of place in my Oma`s house. We got a table by the window, so the sunlight could stream in and warm us.Aunties and Uncles, Kiku Corner

The food was fantastic! I had the Breakfast Tacos, which consisted of corn tortillas topped with refried beans, chorizo, scrambled eggs and cheese. It was served with sour cream, and I also ordered a side of greens.

Ryan had the Omelette Special, which had butternut squash (the sweetness of which really enhanced the whole dish), goat cheese, green onions and spinach. As a side, he ordered the home fries. Home fries seem to mean different things in different restaurants, so  I was pleasantly surprised by the ones at Aunties and Uncles. They seemed to be boiled potatoes which were then smushed and then pan-fried. Crispy yet moist and full of flavour. Delectable!
