Dani Ortman designs and weaves her gorgeous handwoven textiles on a loom. She is involved in all parts of the process, including dying, spinning, and weaving to produce these scarves. Dani also started experimenting with home grown dyes and planted a dye garden this past summer, successfully growing her own indigo plants.

I first saw her beautiful pieces at the Wychwood Barns craft market. They were so fine and soft, woven in such intricate and graphic patterns. Hand-weaving is one of those ancient art forms that is quickly disappearing as our society becomes more modernized. Dani has found a way to  preserve this thousands-year-old craft with these wearable works of art. Who wouldn’t want to snuggle up with one of these on a frosty winter evening?
