Tofu Dengaku - Grilled Miso Tofu

- 600 g firm tofu
- ½ cup shiro miso (white miso)
- 2 tsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp mirin
- ⅓ cup dashi stock
- 2 Tbsp tahini
- Combine miso, sugar, mirin and dashi in a small pot. Cook over low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Add tahini. Remove from heat.
- Cut tofu into 2 cm slices. Place in an oiled oven tray and cook under a hot grill for about 3 minutes or until browned lightly.
- Spread miso mixture on top of tofu. Cook under hot grill for about 2 minutes or until miso is browned lightly. Serve.
