Tofu Dengaku - Grilled Miso Tofu

Ingredients
  • 600 g firm tofu
  • ½ cup shiro miso (white miso)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp mirin
  • ⅓ cup dashi stock
  • 2 Tbsp tahini
Instructions
  1. Combine miso, sugar, mirin and dashi in a small pot. Cook over low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Add tahini. Remove from heat.
  2. Cut tofu into 2 cm slices. Place in an oiled oven tray and cook under a hot grill for about 3 minutes or until browned lightly.
  3. Spread miso mixture on top of tofu. Cook under hot grill for about 2 minutes or until miso is browned lightly. Serve.
