Woolly Rustic Knit Infinity Scarf, Kiku Corner 6

This rustic knit infinity scarf has a simple construction, intended to showcase the chunky wool and metal embellishment. Donatello brought the slub white wool from Colombia a few years ago, and it has been sitting in my stash waiting for the right project to come along.

Later as I started de-cluttering my stuff (part of my 2016 tidying up goals), I found a large metal piece in my jewelry collection. It was too large to be refashioned as earrings or a pendant, so I decided it was the perfect embellishment to my thick Colombian wool.

After knitting the infinity scarf, I skipped the blocking to keep the rustic vibe. To attach the metal pendant, I used a flat white makeup sponge to anchor it, which prevents pulling. See second last photo below for a visual.

A large metal embellishment

One makeup sponge (see description above)

Sewing needle and grey thread

Gauge

11 stitches = 10cm in knit stitch

Directions

  • Provisionally cast on 20 stitches.
  • Row 1: knit to end of row.
  • Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 140cm or your desired length
  • Carefully remove the live stitches from the provisional cast on and place them on a knitting needle and bind off using the Kitchener stitch method.
  • Place metal embellishment near the top edge of the scarf. Place sponge behind the metal piece, with the scarf in between the two, and attach all three pieces together.
