I knit the Binic pullover by Solenn Couix-Loarer for my own baby! All the other baby things I’ve been knitting for the same reason, such as the Remi Cardigan, the Oliver Sweater, and one of the two Doe Caps.

This is a toddler sweater meant for kids aged 18-24 months. I used just over one and a half skeins, or about 350 m, of Spud & Chloë Fine Sock, a yarn that is 80% wool and 20% silk. As it’s meant for a baby, it’s good that this is a superwash wool!

I knit the sweater bottom-up to the underarms. Then I separated for front and back and knit in 2×2 ribbing. The boatneck, envelope-neck is shaped with short rows. Afterwards, I picked up stitches for the sleeves.

Since I always have a loose gauge, I chose to use 2.75 mm needles for the ribbing, and 3.25 mm for the body. As the sweater is so small, it took me just under two weeks to finish! Of course, however, it took me a few more weeks to weave in all the ends and finally block the sweater.

The instructions recommend adding two buttonholes on the neckline so that you can fasten it closer. I had a couple of baby buttons two-packs, and I decided to go for the ladybug ones. I felt that they were small enough to fit through the buttonholes, but also nicely contrasted with the green yarn.

The pattern is available in English, Italian, and French.
