I knit A Simple Baby Pullover, a free pattern by Erica Kempf Broughton. The free pattern includes four sizes, from 0-6 months to 2-3 years. I chose to knit the 0-6 month size using yarn from my stash. The designer says that this is a great for a first time sweater knitter or an experienced knitter looking for a quick and easy project.

I used almost two skeins of West Yorkshire Spinners Bluefaced Leicester Aran Solid Colours. This was my first time using BFL, and I am a convert! I had read about the wonders of BFL in books and blogs, but had never knit with it before. It is soft and has a lovely drape, even though it’s 100% wool. Even our mom, who is very sensitive to itchy wool, thinks it is soft!
The Simple Baby Pullover is knit top-down with raglan sleeves. It has a cute button placket so that you can easily pull it over your baby’s head. I chose three leather-look buttons from my stash, and I think they look cute. Another bonus of the pattern is that it is available in English, French, and Italian!
Baby knitting is so quick, and this sweater just took me a few weeks to knit. Due to my loose gauge, I used 3.5 mm needles instead of the recommended 4.5 mm ones.
