I crocheted the beautiful Pizzelle Beret, designed by Linda Permann. The pattern is part of Linda’s e-book that includes other beautiful patterns inspired by food. In order to make the Pizzelle Beret, I used a 3.0 mm crochet hook and Rowan Fine Lace yarn in the Quaint colourway. This dusty rose yarn is 80% alpaca and 20% merino. The alpaca addition to the yarn makes the hat warm and gives it beautiful drape. In addition to the look of the hat, I love that the pattern requires just one 400 m skein of laceweight yarn.

The hat has a lovely design: fine stitches, done with laceweight yarn, don’t look like crochet. Adjacent FPdc stitches form the cables, and small puffs add extra embellishment. Overall, the laceweight yarn wasn’t hard to work with, and I plan on making the Pizzelle Beret in many different colours for our Etsy shop!

The only change I made was to add a few rows of ribbing around the headband for a better fit. Additionally, I used a 3.0 mm hook instead of the recommended 2.75 mm since I tend to have a tight gauge when crocheting. As shown here, I really enjoy crocheting berets!

The beautiful Pizzelle Beret, designed by Linda Permann, is available to buy via Ravelry; this finished hat is available for purchase in our Etsy shop in dusty rose or in bright fuchsia.
