For this hat, I used some old acrylic worsted weight yarn that I had lying around the house, and a 5.50mm crochet hook. I had about one skein of yarn, so it was enough to crochet this beanie, which I altered a bit to fit my head (I’ve got a large noggin). The pattern is from Crochet Boutique: 30 Simple, Stylish Hats, Bags & Accessories by Rachael Oglesby, and the book gives the option of making a pom pom for the top of the beanie, but I ran out of yarn. Instead, I clipped a hair clip with a pretty pink flower to the hat, which adds a punchy accent.

This hat is also very quick to crochet – I made it in one evening at one of our Crafty Circle Sundays!

It is a great casual hat that goes with both my winter coat and autumn jacket. For the cold winter, though, I plan on lining the hat with a bit of fleece to help keep my ears warm.
