I started crocheting again this winter, as a way to stay busy on long, cold, dark winter days.

Winter White Infinity Scarf, 1

The day after Boxing Day, Romni Wools on Queen St W had a sale on almost everything in the shop. In the basement, I found five skeins of Diamond Luxury Collection silk/microfibre/wool blend in off-white 4-ply. It is luxuriously soft, has a slight sheen, and most importantly, is quite warm.

I chose this colour because I didn’t have a white scarf, and I wanted a scarf in a colour that would go with my fall and winter coats. The original pattern, Simply Elegant Scarf by Annalee Rose, is from Crochet One-Skein Wonders: 101 Projects from Crocheters around the World by Judith Durant and Edie Eckman, as a plain scarf, but I altered it slightly and joined the ends to make an infinity scarf. It is crocheted in the round, so the lacy pattern is thicker with two layers, even if you don’t make it into an infinity scarf.

I crocheted this scarf with 5 skeins, and it’s long enough to be looped four times around my neck, which makes it more resistant to wind.

Here is the link to the book I used. Rarely does one book have so many patterns that I want to try! I’ve already made about five, but there are more on my to-do list.
